If you have ever been to an amusement park, county fair, or state fair, you may already know how popular fresh-squeezed lemonade is.

Furthermore, if you have enjoyed a glass of it, you probably understand why there are long lines of people waiting at the fresh-squeezed lemonade stand.

The long wait is usually worth it because lemonade from fresh lemon juice tastes better than anything of its kind!

It's perfectly refreshing; plus, it will help to keep you hydrated on a hot summer day.

Ever wondered if you can have lemonade on the keto diet? The answer is, yes, you can! This sugar-free lemonade recipe is perfect and will keep you within your macros.

    Ingredients

There are four simple ingredients in this refreshing keto lemonade, and they are all really easy to find.

    Here's what you need:

    Lemons

You'll need about 5 lemons to make 8 cups of lemonade. Jarred lemon juice won't work as well as fresh lemons. So, use the fruit - it works so much better!

    Water

The type of water isn't as important since you are using lemon juice and sweetener. If your tap water has an aftertaste, consider using filtered or bottled water for this lemonade recipe.

    Monk Fruit Drops

Any type of granular or liquid sugar-free sweetener will taste delicious in this drink. I used monk fruit drops because they don't have a strong aftertaste, and they dissolve really well in the water.

Please note: Check out the recipe card at the bottom for a full list of ingredients used to make this low-carb recipe.

    Quick tips

Here are a few ways you can change this keto lemonade recipe to make it completely different.

    • Add other fruity flavors. Use a melon baller to make balls of watermelon, casaba melon, or other low-carb melon of your choice.
    • Try kiwi. Add slices of kiwi fruit. Not only will the lemonade taste amazing, but it will also be beautiful!
    • Spike it. A splash of vodka will turn ordinary sugar-free lemonade into an adults-only keto drink.

    Instructions

All of the exact steps for this homemade sugar free lemonade are in the recipe card at the bottom of this post. First, here are some additional tips and information.

Mix All The Ingredients In The Pitcher

Squeeze the lemon juice, add the lemon slices and the sweetener with the water in the pitcher. Leave room for ice so that it keeps the lemonade nice and cold.

    Store It In The Refrigerator

Then, just store it in the refrigerator. Yes, it really is that easy!

You don't need any fancy equipment. It might help to use a lemon juicer, but you can use your hands.

    What To Serve With Lemonade

This is such a refreshing drink on hot summer days! If you want other cold treats, make some keto sea salt caramel ice cream bars. They are high-fat and low-carb.

The tart lemonade also tastes amazing with these rich keto cake pops. They only have 3g net carbs each.

Or, scoop some keto vanilla ice cream and serve it with lemonade. Talk about summertime perfection!

    FAQs

Before we get to the lemonade sugar free recipe just a little further below, here are some questions people often ask about fresh-squeezed lemonade.

Is lemon juice good for you?

Yes, lemon juice is really good for your health.

The lemon juice in a glass of sugar-free fresh-squeezed lemonade offers these benefits:

    • High In Vitamin C - This is good for the body's immune system, improves heart health, and can even help fight cancer cells!
    • Loaded With Antioxidants - Can help reduce inflammation and are fantastic for skin health.
    • Improves And Increases Iron Absorption

These are just some of the health benefits of lemon. It's even said to improve digestion!

What kind of sweetener is best for sugar-free lemonade?

There are several options when it comes to sweetening your sugar-free fresh-squeezed lemonade.

The recipe below calls for lemon monk fruit drops. Other low-carb and keto-friendly sweetener options that dissolve well in lemonade include:

    • Xylitol
    • Erythritol
    • Monkfruit sweetener
    • Stevia

My sweetener of choice is lemon monk fruit drops because they offer an extra boost of lemon flavor. Lemon stevia drops work as well.

How long will the lemonade stay fresh?

As long as it is kept in the refrigerator, lemon, orange, or any other fresh squeezed juice will usually stay fresh for 7-10 days. At that point, it usually starts to lose its flavor and may even take on a cloudy appearance.

The good news is, freshly squeezed lemon juice can be frozen, and if you really want to, you can even freeze the lemonade. Just be aware that it may lose some of its flavor during the thawing process.

An easy and convenient way to freeze lemon juice is to use ice cube trays. When the juice is frozen, just release the cubes from the tray and transfer them to a large freezer zip-top bag.

Then, when you want to make some sugar-free lemonade, just add water and sweetener into a pitcher, add a few of the frozen juice cubes and stir to combine.

This sugar-free lemonade tastes just like the drink you loved as a kid! In fact, your family is probably going to ask you for the recipe. So make a pitcher, and keep this recipe safe - you'll be using it over and over again.

How much gentle sweet would you use to sweeten this?

1 teaspoon monk fruit drops is equivalent to about ⅔ cup sugar so it would be ⅔ cup for a one-for-one sugar substitute.

Sorry to say, but this was the worse lemonade recipe ever.
Watered down. Hardly a lemon taste. Not sweet enough.
Had to doctor it up big-time!

I love lemonade but am allergic to pretty much all store-bought options. So glad I found this recipe, it was so easy to make, refreshing AND I did not have that lump in my throat feeling like I do with store-bought lemonades!

Thank you for this recipe! We made some fresh lemonade a few weeks ago using monkfruit granulated and within 30 minutes of drinking it, everyone in our house who drank it had terrible diarrhea! Then my hubby bravely tried it again the next day and same thing happened so it all went on the garbage! It tastes inedible though! So I need to buy some lemon monkfruit drops!

Sounds like it was the granulated part of the sweetener as pure monk fruit won’t do that.
