    Low-carb tomato soup uses lower-carb ingredients with the same robust flavor but a fraction of the carbs. In fact, you can enjoy this with a grilled cheese sandwich - you just have to use low-carb bread.

    Whenever you are craving creamy tomato soup, make this zesty recipe. You won't believe how easy it is to make! It's way better than canned tomato soup.

    The herbs and spices work together to fill your kitchen with alluring aromas that draw you to the stove. The most difficult thing about this soup is waiting for it to heat up.

    Here is what you'll need in order to make homemade tomato soup. Some of the ingredients might surprise you. Trust the process; the result is incredible!

    Low-carb marinara sauce

    Surprise! The base of this tomato soup is actually a marinara sauce. It works incredibly well.

    Look at the ingredients label. Only use a marinara sauce that doesn't include any added sugar.

    You could even make your own homemade marinara sauce! It's so easy you'll wonder why you ever bought the stuff from the store.

    Heavy whipping cream

    This is what makes it creamy tomato soup. If you don't have heavy whipping cream, you can use half and half.

    Tip: To keep it vegetarian, use coconut cream instead.

    Chicken broth

    The chicken broth adds more layers of savory flavors to the soup. Chicken stock has a fuller flavor, so use that if you can.

    Tomato paste

    There is only one tablespoon in the entire pot of soup, so it won't affect the net carbs in each serving very much. This is more or less to enhance the tomato flavors.

    Italian seasoning

    Since marinara sauce and chicken broth already have plenty of salt and spices, you don't need very much Italian seasoning. It's basically to boost the aromatic properties.

    Crumbled bacon

    This is an optional topping for the soup. I think bacon adds a delightful crunch!

    Fresh parsley

    Chop some fresh parsley and sprinkle it on top for a lovely pop of color (and flavor) on the soup. You even mix it up and add some fresh basil.

    Tips

    • Taste the soup before you add the Italian seasoning. It might not need very much seasoning, especially if you use a robust marinara sauce.
    • Let the soup boil before adding the heavy whipping cream. This will naturally thicken the sauce.
    • Do not let the soup boil after you add the heavy whipping cream. If you do, the cream might scald, which deteriorates the quality of the soup.
    • Add a dash of olive oil. This will make it a little creamier and richer.

    Instructions

    This super simple recipe makes creamy keto tomato soup easier than ever. Follow along; I'll even share step-by-step pictures.

    Place the low-carb marinara sauce in a pot over medium heat on the stove.

    Add chicken broth

    Pour the chicken broth into the pot of marinara sauce and stir it.

    Next, add the tomato paste to the pot of soup.

    Add spices and let it boil

    After that, add the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the pot. Mix it really well together, and then let it come to a boil.

    Add whipping cream

    Pour in the heavy whipping cream, reduce the heat to medium/low, and simmer for 10 minutes.

    Serve garnished with parsley and crumbled bacon if desired.

    Serving suggestions

    This tomato soup is the perfect thing to serve for lunch. Enjoy it with some grilled cheese sandwiches (made with keto bread, of course).

    Soup and sandwich is a classic lunch idea. Instead of grilled cheese, make a keto panini. Or, go the soup and salad route and serve it with some pesto chicken salad wraps.

    This tomato soup is also the perfect starter for any Italian recipe you want to make. Enjoy it before a dinner of keto meatloaf or some meatballs and marinara sauce.
