    One of my favorite morning snacks is a cup of fruit yogurt. I usually mix in a few blueberries and sweetener, but saw some Florida strawberries on sale at the grocery store and thought they'd be great in yogurt.

    Instead of slicing the strawberries for each serving of yogurt, I thought it'd be easier to slice all the strawberries ahead of time and mix them with sweetener. That way, when it was time for my yogurt snack, I could just grab a big spoonful and stir it into the plain yogurt.

    So, here's how to make strawberry sauce for cheesecake and pancakes. And, this simple strawberry syrup is also perfect for mixing into plain whole fat yogurt.

    This weekend, I'm gonna make some coconut flour waffles and top it with this strawberry sauce and a little whipped cream. Yum, I can't wait!

    Sweet breakfasts are always the best. I'll have to try it on my favorite almond flour pancakes and waffles after that.

    This fruity sauce is great layered into a low carb cheesecake mousse for great looking parfaits! Or, it could be swirled into a baked cheesecake pie or a traditional baked cheesecake.

    There are just so many potential uses for this quick and easy strawberry sauce.

    As with most fruit, even low carb strawberries, there is still sugar that can impact your insulin levels. If your goal is to maintain a state of ketosis, particularly for weight loss, you probably want to use a zero carb strawberry sauce like Walden Farms Strawberry Syrup.

    Quick and easy strawberry sauce that's delicious and goes great with yogurt. Simply just slice up the strawberries and add some sweetener for this treat.

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound fresh strawberries washed, hulled and sliced
    • ¼ cup low carb sugar substitute can be adjusted to taste
    • ½ cup water
    US Customary - Metric

    Instructions

    • Place the strawberries in a medium pot. Sprinkle on sweetener and pour in water.
    • Heat over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes to soften strawberries.
    • Remove from heat and allow to cool. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to a week.
    • Use to flavor plain yogurt, or as a topping for ice cream and waffles.

    Notes

    Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or in the freezer for at least 3 months when placed in an airtight container.

        Yes. This strawberry sauce is a great yogurt topping. I usually mix it into plain unsweetened Greek style yogurt.

        It lasts up to a week in the refrigerator or at least 3 months frozen.

        Yes. You can make a big batch of the sauce and freeze a bunch for later.

          Will it tastes diluted when used thawed from freezer? I'm thinking to make a big batch just worried it would tastes weird after.

      Wait, where are the instructions to make the strawberry sauce? These are just directions to sprinkle sweetener on berries. Am I missing something?

      looks nice, I personally tend to stay away from fruit as it can kick you out of ketosis because of the way fructose is metabolized in the liver, but if your not aiming to stay in ketosis this looks like a great recipe!

        Good point on the fruit for those in ketosis. I have found that I can continue to lose weight with fruit as long as I keep my daily caloric intake low. Although calories aren't supposed to matter with low carb dieting, I've found I lose weight best by eating both low carb and low calorie.
