For a weeknight dinner that's prepped in just a few minutes, you need to try my sheet pan steak fajitas. With tender steak, low-carb veggies, and homemade fajita seasoning, this meal is bursting with flavor!

    Why you'll love it

When I'm looking for a meal in a pinch, a sheet pan recipe is my first move. And these sheet pan steak fajitas, in particular, are a regular part of my meal rotation.

Not only are they quick and easy to make, but they're also incredibly tasty – they contain simple ingredients that the whole family will love, even picky eaters.

I made these fajitas with keto dieters in mind, removing traditional high-carb flour tortillas from the equation.

    What remains?

Perfectly seasoned low-carb steak fajitas that you can enjoy guilt-free any day of the week.

Note: If seafood is your preference, I also have a delicious shrimp fajitas sheet pan recipe for you to try!

    Ingredients needed

This easy recipe is made with incredibly simple ingredients that, when combined, make for a super tasty meal.

Here's everything that goes into my sheet pan steak fajitas:

    ingredients needed for keto fajitas

    Sirloin steak

The base of these steak fajitas is seasoned sirloin steak strips. This cut gives this recipe a good amount of protein and fat content and provides a great satiating factor.

In other words, steak is going to fill you up and keep you that way!

    Olive oil

A little extra fat content is an important part of a standard keto diet.

Additionally, olive oil helps brown your ingredients while also adding additional flavor and desirable macronutrients.

    Vegetables

Luckily, traditional fajita vegetables are low-carb and totally keto-friendly.

This recipe uses onions and bell peppers; they give these steak fajitas extra nutrition and natural sweetness without any added sugars.

    Seasonings

Perhaps the most important part of any meal is the seasoning blend!

For these sheet pan steak fajitas, I use a homemade fajita seasoning recipe including:

    • Cumin
    • Paprika
    • Chili powder
    • Garlic powder
    • Onion powder
    • Oregano
    • Salt and pepper

This combo gives the recipe depth. And because you're making it yourself, you have the power to customize the blend based on your preferences.

I prefer making my own seasoning blends rather than using pre-packaged versions because I have complete control over the ingredients. Many pre-made spice blends contain hidden sugar content that you want to avoid on a keto diet.

Want to try another one of my favorite seasoning blends? Give this keto-friendly low-carb taco seasoning mix a try!

    Tips

Here are a couple of cooking tips to make sure your recipe goes off without a hitch:

    • Marinate your steak for a few hours before baking for the best flavor potential.
    • Bake at a high temperature for tender meat.
    • Check your steak often the first time you make this recipe. Every oven cooks slightly differently, and you don't want to overcook it!
    • Chop vegetables uniformly so that they bake evenly.

    Instructions

You can make these beef fajitas in the oven in the blink of an eye! Here's how to cook beef fajitas in the oven:

    Prep time

The first step is to prep our elements.

Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F and lining a large sheet pan with parchment paper.

    sliced steak for fajitas

    Then, get chopping!

You'll want all of your ingredients to be thinly sliced for fast and even cooking. Slice your bell peppers and onions as well as your sirloin steak.

    sliced veggies for oven fajitas

    Season your ingredients

Next, it's as easy as mixing all of your ingredients together.

Add your sliced ingredients to a mixing bowl, drizzle them with olive oil, and add your seasonings. That's all you need for your sheet pan steak fajitas marinade.

    seasoning for fajita ingredients

Toss your ingredients until everything is well combined.

    Bake to your preference

Evenly spread your ingredients onto your parchment-lined baking sheet and bake until the steak is done to your preference.

    beef fajitas in the oven

I recommend baking for 12-15 minutes.

And just like that, your keto steak fajitas are done and ready to be served!

    Serving suggestions

You can serve up your fajitas alone, with low-carb tortillas, on a bed of lettuce, or with lettuce wraps; they're tasty in all forms!

Want this recipe to be extra filling? Serve your keto steak fajitas over Mexican cauliflower rice.

Plus, this recipe is easily customized with the toppings of your choice. Try serving your steak fajitas with lime wedges, fresh cilantro, guacamole, pico de gallo, homemade keto salsa, and sour cream.

    Variations

The best part of a simple sheet pan meal is how easy it is to customize based on what you like and what you have on hand.

Here are a few ways you change it up:

    • Add a squeeze of lime juice over your finished sheet pan meal for a bit of acidity.
    • Use fresh oregano for extra depth in flavor.
    • Include smoked paprika in your seasonings for a smokey addition.
    • Serve with low-carb tortillas to complement your dish.
    • Use pre-made fajita seasoning for easy prep.

    FAQs

These are a few common questions I get about my sheet pan steak fajitas. If you don't see your question answered, please leave it for me in the comments down below.

What is the best cut of meat for steak fajitas?

Because steak fajitas are so well-seasoned, you can use a variety of cuts without affecting your meal.

While I use steak tenderloin in this recipe, skirt steak and flank steak both make great choices for fajitas; they're tender, cook quickly, and marinade well. These cuts also tend to be cost-effective, making them all the more appetizing.

How do you cook fajita meat so it's tender?

The trick to cooking fajita meat so that it's super tender is to cook it at high heat for a shorter cooking time.

Other tips for getting super tender fajita meat include:
    - Marinating your meat
    - Slicing your meat against the grain
    - Including acid in your marinade (like lime juice or vinegar)

Are fajitas good for a keto diet?

While traditional fajitas are served on flour tortillas (a big keto no-no), my steak fajita recipe is absolutely suitable for a keto diet.

I omit the tortillas and instead focus on serving up well-seasoned, low-carb protein and vegetables. This way, you get the best part of traditional fajitas without sacrificing your ketosis.

Beef, onions, and bell peppers all contain relatively low net carbs, so you can be generous in your servings.

How many net carbs are in steak fajitas without tortillas?

My sheet pan steak fajitas contain just 4g net carbs per serving. Not only does this mean you can eat them freely on a keto diet, but it also means there is room left to top them up with yummy extras.

      5 stars
I'm a lazy cook so I use low sodium taco mix packets sprinkled on the veggies and meat after I spray them with olive cooking oil. I actually put the veggies on one tray and include a drained can of diced tomatoes, spray with oil, and sprinkle with one taco mix packet. Then, I do the same to the meat on a separate bake tray. That way if the meat or veggies cook more quickly you can take one of them out of the oven and cook the other a tad longer. I serve the fajitas with tortillas, taco sauce, and sour cream. Some like to add shredded cheddar. All of the latter, tortillas, taco sauce, etc will change the calories etc.
