    This ground beef and green beans stir fry is a super easy dinner that’s full of flavor. You only need five ingredients, and everything comes together in one skillet in just three steps!

    When I’m looking for a quick and tasty dinner, I love making stir fry. It’s a fast meal that’s always full of flavor.

    Since I usually have ground beef and green beans on hand, this recipe is one of my go-tos! 

    Including the oil and garlic, this recipe only requires 5 ingredients and is ready in 3 steps. Just brown the meat with the garlic, add the frozen green beans and water chestnuts, then sprinkle in the soy sauce to taste.

    That’s it!

    You’ll love how easy this ground beef and green beans recipe is to throw together. It makes 4 servings, so you can feed the whole family or save leftovers for later in the week.

    Are green beans good for low carb?

    A cup of green beans has about 7 grams of total carbs and 3.4 grams of fiber. This means there are only 3.6 net carbs per cup of green beans.

    With the low carb count, green beans are a great vegetable for keto. That’s why you’ll often find them on my family’s menu. We especially love green bean fries.

    It’s easy to find big bags of frozen green beans at most stores. They’re great to have for recipes like these, plus they’ll keep in your freezer for a long time.

    Recipe variations

    I like to make this recipe with the optional water chestnuts. They’re a typical ingredient found in stir fry, so I usually include them.

    However, they are a higher carb vegetable. The recipe calls for a ½ cup (1 can) of sliced water chestnuts, which is 13 net carbs. Split up across 4 servings, they add a little over 3 net carbs to each serving.

    If you want to keep the net carbs as low as possible, you can reduce or omit the water chestnuts. Without them, each serving of ground beef and green beans stir fry is 2.7 net carbs.

    To change up the flavor, try stirring in some homemade keto hoisin sauce.

    If you don’t have ground beef, this recipe would also be good with chicken, pork, or even ground turkey. Feel free to experiment with other proteins!

    What to serve with green beans and ground beef

    With the ground beef, green beans, soy sauce, and water chestnuts, this dish reminds me of Chinese takeout.

    So when I’m choosing a keto side to go with ground beef and green beans, I like to pick other Asian-inspired recipes.

    One of my favorites is this shiratake noodle soup. It cooks up in less than 10 minutes and makes a nice, cozy side for your stir fry.

    Another side we used to order with chinese food was egg rolls. The crispy wrappers make traditional egg rolls high in carbs. However, you can easily make this egg roll in a bowl that’s so tasty, you won’t even miss the wrappers.

    Of course, fried rice has always been a takeout staple. This cauliflower pork fried rice will satisfy your fried rice craving and only has 5 net carbs per serving.

    Looking for a simpler side? My keto cheddar biscuits or keto almond flour biscuits can be made ahead of time and are very mild, so they’ll go well with any flavors.

    Ingredients

    • oil for frying
    • 1 pound hamburger meat
    • 2 cloves garlic minced
    • 8 ounces frozen cut green beans
    • ½ cup sliced water chestnuts optional, drained
    • soy sauce tamari, or coconut aminos

    Instructions

    • Brown meat in skillet with garlic.
    • Add about 8 ounces of frozen green beans along with water chestnuts (these can add a bit more carbs).
    • Sprinkle soy sauce to taste. Continue to cook and stir until heated through.

      LISA!!! I can not believe as simple as this recipe was, how incredibly awesome it turned out! I almost didn’t try it because I was out of frozen green beans so I decided to try a drained can green beans of instead. Wow, it was so flavorful with such minimal ingredients and was done in no time! I did a super hot and fast sear on my ground beef because I love that kind of crust on the beef What a hidden keeper on your site I hadn't seen before! Thanks so much for sharing!!

      Oh, my goodness! What a tasty recipe! I thought it looked good, but - oh, my! It completely fits the eating plan I follow, but it tastes like I’m cheating 🙂 I doubled the recipe to make leftovers, and the second time I had some, it occurred to me that it would be good over cauliflower rice. The “rice” was a little bland, though, so tonight when I had it again, I steamed the frozen rice in the bag it came in (microwave-safe bag), then added just a smidgen of white pepper and garlic powder plus a decent amount of coconut aminos and mixed it all together before topping it with the warmed-up stir fry. Definitely a winner! Thanks for sharing such a simple but delicious recipe - it’s going in my permanent recipe rotation!!
