Buying store-bought condiments can be really risky - especially if you are focused on healthy, low-carb eating habits. You never truly know what is in it!

    Are there hidden preservatives?

    Is the food coloring safe?

    Are there hidden carbs?

Making your own creamy sauce and condiments is super simple and saves you a lot of worry and stress. Plus - bonus! - you can control how spicy or salty it is.

Now your condiment can be the perfect sauce, just the way you like it!

For today's post, I am going to show you how to make the popular and classic bang bang sauce keto-friendly.

     Why you'll love it

This versatile dipping sauce elevates almost any protein you make. It is creamy and spicy with the bold flavors of garlic and chili sauce.

This Bonefish Grill copycat recipe is one of my favorites and I am sure you will love it too!

All the different ways to use this homemade version are why this is one of my favorite condiments to make. It tastes completely different when I top my cauliflower rice with this sauce than when I use it as a dip for chicken strips.

Plus, this sweet and simple sauce is absolutely delicious! The first thing you notice is the bold chili garlic sauce. Then, after a second, the spicy sriracha hits and it's the most delicious thing ever.

Keep reading and you'll discover how easy it is to make your own amazing bang bang sauce.

    Ingredients

There are just a handful of easy pantry ingredients in this incredible bang bang sauce. Here's how to use the very best ones:

    Mayonnaise

Mayonnaise is the base of this sauce - it's what makes it so smooth and tangy. If you are going to buy it from the store, try to buy a keto-friendly mayo or go for a healthier version.

I prefer Primal Kitchen avocado oil mayonnaise! It's thick and creamy and completely keto-friendly. Plus, it is a fantastic source of healthy fats.

Of course, you can always make your own mayo too (which is what I like to do). This coconut oil mayo is full of healthy fatty acids and tastes incredible.

If you don't mind the color, avocado mayo is also rich and a perfect source of healthy fats too.

I have heard of people using Greek yogurt too. If you do, make sure it is plain and unsweetened.

    Chili Garlic Sauce

This is what really gives the bang bang sauce its bold flavor!

Garlic chili sauce is used in a lot of Asian recipes. You can also save it and drizzle it on top of chicken breasts for a little extra flavor.

If you want to use a sweet chili sauce, then I suggest either making your own or buying a sugar-free Thai sweet chili sauce. You can also add in a bit of garlic powder to add that garlic flavor.

    Sriracha Sauce

Next, sriracha is what gives this homemade version of bang bang sauce some extra spice!

You should know that bottled sriracha does have a small amount of sugar in it but it's not enough to throw off your macros.

This hot sauce is very popular with keto dieters! In fact, since I used such a small amount in this recipe, it still comes out to 0g net carbs per serving.

If you are still worried about the small amount of sugar in sriracha, you can make your own or buy a sugar-free variety.

    Salt

Use just enough to balance out the flavors in this tangy sauce. The chili garlic sauce and sriracha both have salt in them, so you don't need much.

Please note: Check out the recipe card at the bottom for a full list of ingredients used to make this low-carb recipe.

    Tips

    • Make it as spicy as you want. Adjust the amount of sriracha sauce and make it as bold or as mild as you like.
    • Choose your container wisely. If you think you will use this frequently, recycle an old ketchup bottle to make it easier to use.
    • Use a stand mixer. This isn't required, but it will really make your job easier. Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and let the stand mixer do all the work!

    Instructions

This spicy and sweet sauce recipe really is as simple as mixing and storing.

    Mix The Ingredients

Use a small mixing bowl to mix together all the ingredients. You can use a whisk, electric mixer, or let a stand mixer do all the work for you.

    Store the Bang Bang Sauce

Use it immediately! Or, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for up to 3 weeks.

    ️ Serving suggestions

This bang bang sauce is one of the most versatile condiments you will ever use. It's a perfect dipping sauce for your favorite chicken wings recipe.

Bang bang shrimp is a Bonefish Grill namesake appetizer! Or, to make it vegetarian you can make bang bang cauliflower.

You can also make some bang shrimp sauce and use it on top of grilled shrimp. Then, on the side, serve some cauliflower fried rice and keto egg drop soup.

This easy sauce is also the perfect thing to drizzle on top of keto sushi rolls. It gives them a huge pop of flavor - and looks fancy too! For even easier prep, use leftover sauce to make poke bowls with shrimp, tuna, or other seafood meat.

Basically, if you like spicy dipping sauces, then this is the one for you! I am sure you will find recipes that pair beautifully with this sauce.

    FAQs

Before we get to the printable recipe card, here are some questions people often ask about how to make it.

Is bang bang the same as yum yum sauce?

No, they are not the same thing. They are both mayonnaise-based, however, Bang Bang sauce is sweet spicy, and yum yum sauce has a tangy tomato base that is sweetened with sugar (or sugar substitute).

How long will bang bang sauce last in the refrigerator?

This bang bang sauce will last about 3 weeks in the refrigerator.

Can I use homemade mayo in this recipe?

Yes, you can use homemade mayonnaise in this recipe. It will turn out perfect and extra creamy!

What is the best container to store homemade bang bang sauce?

I like to store bang bang sauce in pourable condiment containers. Reuse a washed ketchup bottle or use a mason jar with a lid.
