If you miss bread on the low-carb diet, then you are really going to love this recipe!

Have you ever made a chaffle before? The name chaffle comes from combining the two main ingredients - cheese and eggs - and making them on a waffle maker.

There are a bunch of different ways to make chaffles, including using cream cheese or cheddar cheese.

This time, I decided to totally make up my own chaffle recipe - without any cheese! The result is a light and fluffy waffle that tastes a lot like white bread.

In fact, I think it reminds me of Wonder Bread that I ate when I was a child. It has an absolutely delicious taste and a delightfully light and fluffy texture.

    Why you'll love it

There are so many different ways you can eat this basic chaffle bread. My favorite way is to have a few pieces of keto-friendly sandwich bread. Now I can enjoy all my favorite sandwiches on the keto diet.

Making sandwiches is finally not off-limits on a low-carb diet! You just have to use these chaffles as the bread slices.

Are you ready to find out how to make a keto Wonder Bread chaffle? Grab your waffle maker and cook some of the best chaffles you have ever tasted!

    Ingredients

There are just a few simple ingredients in this wonder bread chaffle recipe.

    Almond flour

To keep the recipe gluten-free, I used almond flour. This also keeps the carbs low enough to fit in with a ketogenic diet.

Remember to use almond flour, not almond meal. Almond meal is basically ground up almonds, skins, and all. It will make the Wonder Bread chaffle have a grainy texture.

    Eggs

The eggs are very important. They are the emulsifier and keep all the ingredients together!

    Baking powder

Baking powder will give the Wonder Bread chaffle a light and fluffy texture.

    Water

I added a splash of water because it broke up the ingredients a bit and kept one ingredient from sticking out too much.

    Mayonnaise

Some people use sour cream in their recipes, but I like the mild taste of mayonnaise.

Please note: Check out the recipe card at the bottom for a full list of ingredients used to make this low-carb recipe.

    Tips

    • Use a mini waffle maker. To get the best consistency, I suggest cooking the wonder bread chaffle on a mini waffle iron.
    • Double the recipe. If you need to make more than four pieces of keto wonder bread, I suggest doubling the recipe.
    • Make your own mayonnaise. This is the best way to know exactly what is in it. Plus, homemade mayo is simple to make.

    Instructions

Keto wonder bread chaffle is incredibly easy to make. If you have ever made boxed pancakes or waffles before, then you can make these.

After just a few minutes, you will have some delicious Wonder Bread keto chaffles to enjoy. In fact, they are so easy that you can just make them fresh whenever you are craving a sandwich.

    Prepare the waffle maker

Preheat the mini waffle maker. If you need to, add some non-stick spray. I prefer to use an avocado oil spray.

    chaffle batter.

    Make the wonder bread batter

Add the ingredients to a mixing bowl, and whisk well to combine.

Cook the keto wonder bread chaffle

Place ¼ of the batter into the mini waffle iron, and cook to your liking.

Keep making chaffles until you use up all the batter.

    ️ Serving suggestions

You can enjoy a wonder bread chaffle for lunch or breakfast. They are incredibly versatile!

If you want to eat them for breakfast, top them with sugar-free syrup. Then eat them with your favorite keto breakfast casserole. You can even enjoy some fresh fruit on the side.

Or, use these chaffles in place of white bread. Make some cucumber sandwiches with them!

You can even use them as a pizza crust and make a delicious pizza chaffle.

Don't forget to save them and reheat them in a toaster oven. That will save you time later too.

    Variations

There are so many different ways to make keto bread. Top them with Everything Bagel seasoning for some extra flavor.

You can even flavor these bread chaffles with a little bit of vanilla extract for a tad more flavor.

Try to toast your white bread keto chaffle and top with cheese and lunch meat. This is a delicious and hot sandwich.

Or, make dessert chaffles - add a little sweetener to the batter and then top the cooked chaffles with some sugar-free chocolate syrup.

    FAQs

Before I get to this easy keto waffle recipe, here are some questions people often ask about how to make them. If you don't see your question in this list, please leave it in the comments.

    Can I use coconut flour?

I would not suggest using coconut flour in this recipe. It will change the texture and make it drier.

Can I use a regular waffle maker?

No, a regular-sized waffle iron won't work as well. Instead, I suggest using a dash mini waffle maker because it cooks it quickly and evenly.

    Are sandwiches keto?

They are if you use keto sandwich bread. Just look at the net carbs and make sure it fits in with your macros.

Do these chaffles have an eggy taste?

Nope, these chaffles taste just like Wonder Bread. They are light and have a mild flavor.

    How do you freeze chaffles?

Place the chaffles on a baking sheet in a single layer and place the baking sheet in the freezer. Once the chaffles are completely frozen, place them in a freezer-safe food storage bag, and separate each chaffle with a piece of parchment paper.

Omelettes. The dash min is terrible. Does not lay flat and you just oil or it sticks.

I have never made waffles before, so bought one from good ol' Kmart (Oz).
Didn't have quite enough mayo; so I subbed 1 tbsp sour cream. These were so good with bacon inbetween (and so simple to make!). I got greedy and made another batch - just with the sour cream. Brilliant again. I am "comfortably stuffed" (as Dr Ken Berry would say:), and very happy.
      Thank you so much.

I agree. I made a second batch and used 1/3 cup of egg whites from a carton instead of the two eggs and that helped. I also noticed that if you put them in a baggie and refrigerate them for awhile the egg taste goes away, especially if you use them for a sandwich.

I'm in love! I just made the Wonder bread Chaffles...and they are WONDERFUL! So quick and easy and mmm good. After they were ready, I made a BLT sandwich. You'd never know this wasn't regular bread. I never got accustomed to the regular Chaffles. Now I have these to enjoy. To top it off, I found a Dash waffle maker that is square, just like bread. Thank you so very much! Love them! ❤️
