One of the many joys in life is a satisfying and sweet latte. Not only does it warm you up inside, but it creates a feeling of celebration.

Maybe that's why Starbucks holiday drinks are so popular. Well, that, and they taste really good!

This copycat recipe has the same flavors as the Starbucks version but a lot fewer carbs. In fact, you can enjoy a hot eggnog latte even when you are on the keto diet! You just have to use the correct sweetener.

Trust me; even if you don't think you are a fan of eggnog, you will enjoy this latte. It has classic dessert spices that create a festive and warm atmosphere.

There is even a way to make it kid-friendly too! Just make it with decaf coffee instead of espresso.

This is about to become your favorite latte of the season!

    Ingredients

There are two parts to this sugar-free eggnog latte recipe - the homemade keto eggnog and the latte itself. All the ingredients for both are in the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

    Eggnog

You don't have to make your own keto egg nog, but if you want to, here's what's used to make it:

    • Eggs: The most obvious ingredient - you only need the yolks.
    • Sugar-Free Confectioner's sugar: This sugar substitute thickens the drink.
    • Almond Milk: Adds creaminess - make sure it's unsweetened plain almond milk.
    • Heavy Whipping Cream: Provides a rich taste and a more creamy texture.
    • Spices: Use a combination of nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.

    Espresso or Coffee

The most common latte ingredients are espresso or strong coffee, so use either to make this keto eggnog latte.

    Milk

Use your choice of milk (like almond or coconut) to give your coffee drink the creamy look and feel that lattes are known for.

    Sweetener

Add your favorite keto-friendly sweetener to your latte according to your taste.

    Toppings

The garnish is optional, but use it! It makes it so much more fun and delicious. Top the copycat Starbucks eggnog latte with sugar-free whipped cream and nutmeg.

Please note: Check out the recipe card at the bottom for a full list of ingredients used to make this low-carb recipe.

ingredients needed for the eggnog latte recipe

    Quick Tips

    • Make the eggnog ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will stay fresh for up to 5 days.
    • For a little extra creaminess, froth the almond milk and heavy whipping cream before you add it to the coffee.
    • This recipe makes two eggnog lattes. For a single-serving recipe, use half the ingredients.

    Instructions

Here's a quick overview of the low-carb eggnog latte recipe. For the detailed instructions, read the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

    Make The Keto Eggnog

The very first step is to make the keto eggnog. If you have storebought low-carb eggnog, you can skip this step.

    To make keto eggnog:

    1. Whisk egg yolks and sweetener in a bowl until they are foamy. Then, set them aside.
    2. Next, in a saucepan, heat up almond milk, heavy whipping cream, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
    3. When it comes to a low boil, add the egg mixture a little at a time, whisking it continuously.
    4. Cook it like this for about 8 minutes then remove it from the heat and add the vanilla.
    5. Let it cool before adding to the latte drink.

    Add Eggnog To The Latte

Now you are ready to make the keto eggnog latte. Make sure to add the ingredients in this exact order:

    • First, place a bit of the eggnog in the bottom of the cup.
    • Then, add some almond milk and sweetener on top
combining latte ingredients in glass measure

    Garnish And Serve

Finally, garnish with sugar-free whipped cream and dust it with some nutmeg. If you want it to look extra fancy, add a cinnamon stick on top!

    ️ Serving Suggestions

What you serve with the eggnog latte depends on when you are drinking it. If you are enjoying this as your breakfast coffee, then you might eat some Instant Pot sous vide keto egg bites with it. They are light and filling at the same time.

Low-carb sausage balls are also an easy grab-and-go breakfast that gives you the protein you need to start your day. They'd pair well with this festive drink.

If you are really in the mood for something sweet, you might serve your eggnog latte with a keto cinnamon roll. It only has 3g net carbs, so it's really enjoyable.

    FAQs

Before I get to the homemade eggnog latte recipe, here are some questions people often ask. If you don't see your question in this list, please leave it in the comments.

Can I put eggnog in my coffee?

Yes, it's actually really common to just add a bit of sugar-free eggnog to your coffee. I like how creamy a latte is, but you don't have to make it a latte if you don't want to.

What spice is most often used in eggnog?

Vanilla and nutmeg are the spices traditionally used in eggnog. Some recipes include cloves. You can add cloves to your eggnog latte if you want.

    Is there alcohol in eggnog?

I did not use any alcohol in my eggnog or my eggnog latte. Some people add brandy to their eggnog, but I like it non-alcoholic.

When you are in the mood for the perfect holiday latte, this low-carb eggnog latte hits the spot! It is rich and creamy and has the perfect dusting of nutmeg. You will enjoy this every year as the weather gets colder.
