    Keto Coffee Creamer With Flavor Options

    I don't think I could ever give up drinking my creamy cup of coffee every morning. Just because I am on the keto diet does not mean I have to drink only strong black coffee; It just means that I have to find sugar-free ways to sweeten it!

    After making this creamer recipe myself, I realized how much I prefer homemade recipes over store-bought coffee creamers. Just like my reaction when I made homemade Worcestershire sauce, I love how I can control the levels of each ingredient!

    It is also pretty comforting when I know precisely what I am drinking (or eating). No more wondering what an ingredient is - when I make it myself, I know what's in it.

    I have to admit; this homemade keto coffee creamer is pretty creamy. You'll love how much this tastes like your favorite store-bought creamer that you won't go back to the processed bottled kind again.

    Ingredients

    If you do any low-carb baking, you probably already have all of these ingredients in your cabinets and refrigerator. There are only 7 ingredients needed to make this low-carb keto creamer for your coffee.

    Liquid Ingredients

    To make this have a mild flavor and a creamy texture, I used a combination of almond milk, coconut milk, and heavy whipping cream.

    You could substitute heavy cream, half and half, or even coconut cream for the heavy whipping cream. I prefer heavy whipping cream because it has a full body texture with a higher amount of fat.

    Sweetener

    The type of sugar-free sweetener you use is completely up to you. I used a powdered sweetener and discovered that it really dissolves well.

    Liquid sweeteners will also work perfectly too! I suggest using granular sweetener as a last resort. It will dissolve, but it requires more effort.

    Flavoring And Spices

    Vanilla extract is the only spice you actually need for a basic creamer. If you want to create a flavored creamer, then use other extracts like peppermint or hazelnut.

    For a pumpkin spice creamer, add a dash of pumpkin pie spice blend. Cinnamon is another spice that tastes delicious in a basic creamer as well!

    Cocoa Powder

    Cocoa powder is completely optional. But, if you add it, then your coffee will taste like a mocha. Yum!

    Quick tips

    • Make different flavors. Have fun with this keto friendly coffee creamer! When you add different extracts to it, you can create your own flavors. Two popular choices are either almond or peppermint extract.
    • Use it to make sugar-free lattes. Before you add the creamer to your coffee, heat ¼ cup of the creamer and then use a milk frother to create some foam. This will make your coffee taste like a latte!
    • Freeze into ice cubes. When you store and freeze the coffee creamer in an ice cube tray, you can use them to keep your iced coffee cold without worrying about the ice cubes watering your coffee down.

    Instructions

    You don't need any kind of special kitchen gadgets to make this keto creamer recipe; all you need is a mason jar with a lid.

    You literally put all of the ingredients in the jar, secure the lid, and then give it a nice shake!

    How To Store Low-Carb Coffee Creamer

    It's best to keep this creamer in a sealed container inside the refrigerator. Make sure to shake it up each time you use it.

    If you don't have a mason jar with a lid, use a large water bottle or some other drink container with a lid.

    Honestly, this keto-friendly creamer elevates your coffee whether you drink it in the morning with your breakfast recipes or when you are on the go.

    FAQs

    Before we get to the recipe (it's just a little further down), here are some answers to questions people ask about keto coffee creamer:

    Can I have cream in my coffee on keto?

    Yes, you can have cream in your coffee on the keto diet. Just make sure you do not use any types of creamers that have added sugar in them. Full-fat cream is okay on the keto diet!

    Can I have coffee with milk on keto?

    It's best to stay away from dairy milk on the keto diet. One cup of whole milk has almost 13 grams of carbs.

    Are sugar-free creamers from the store keto-friendly?

    My biggest tip would be to take a good look at the ingredients before you buy the creamer. Can you understand what they are? If the sugar-free coffee creamer is made with whole ingredients, then it's probably okay to buy and use.

    One of my favorite creamers from the store is NutPods. It is dairy-free, sugar-free, and made from almonds and coconuts!

    Even so, I prefer to make my own creamer because I know exactly what is in it. It's always healthier to consume whole ingredients like coconut milk and almond milk than processed ingredients.

    Can I add this creamer to Bulletproof coffee?

    Bulletproof coffee is another popular way to drink coffee on a low-carb or keto diet. A cup of bulletproof coffee is made with butter (or ghee) and/or MCT oil instead of creamer.

    My homemade creamer is not to be served with bulletproof coffee.

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup full fat coconut milk
    • ¼ cup almond milk
    • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

      I just started back at Atkins induction level and I needed to cut back on the cream I use in my numerous daily hot and iced coffees. I tried Nut Pods first, but then I found this recipe. WOW and YUM. It's delicious, cost-effective, and cuts my 'real cream' intake to 1/4 of the previous amount. And because of that small amount of cream, it still gives me the taste and feel I crave.

      I haven’t tried this recipe yet but am wondering why not just use heavy whipping cream which has zero carbs? Problem solved without buying all the other products. It is richer therefore takes less and makes your coffee taste sooo good. If I want it flavored I add a quick squirt of stevia Sweet Drops, only brand I use without an aftertaste. I like chocolate, English toffee, vanilla cream or stevia clear, always able to switch up the flavor.

        Well, my reason would be that i was consuming too much dairy for starting levels of a keto diet. Atkins induction permits 4 ounces total per day, and only a few TB of cream. I drink lots of coffee and this recipe saves me from Black Coffee Hell.

        I should have also mentioned that cream is NOT carb-free! One cup has 6.6 grams of carbs, and with the amount of hot and iced coffees I drink, it really adds up. Coconut milk and almond milk have much fewer.

      Thank you so much for this! I just threw out 2 qt containers of Super Creamer today. I hated the taste of the sweeteners it uses, Stevia and Monkfruit. I do not like the sugar free creamers using Sucralose or Aspertame. Using your recipe with my powdered erythritol I finally have a coffee creamer that I truly like! This first round I added pumpkin spice and frothed it into the best PSL that I have had in 2 years! You are amazing, finally a sugar free coffee creamer that I will enjoy! I can also throw out those horrid tasting bottles of skinny syrup I have!

        You can google it, but is usually cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger. You can also buy it already made.

        Yes. You can just make this creamer with coconut milk and heavy cream. You could also substitute the almond milk with a 50/50 mix of water and heavy cream.

      Hi Lisa,
      I am just starting to find Keto and incorporate into my daily life and diet. I have used Rapid Fire Vanilla Coffee Creamer for a couple of years now and I believe they are no longer making it. (I did recently find it at Bed, Bath and Beyond-Who Knew). Anyway, I was discussing it with an acquaintance of mine who is all Keto and she told me that I should not use it. Do you have any thoughts on this?
      Your creamer recipe sounds very easy and I would like to try it. I just don't want to pitch the creamers that cost $12 per container.
      Do you have any thoughts on this? Note: I am struggling with hypothryroidism and really need to get some weight off. A good starting point with KETO would be my daily coffee. I also eat very healthy and low carbs for the most part.

        You really don't need to spend the money on high priced creamers. The extra fat from coconut oil and MCT oil aren't needed and add in extra unnecessary calories. I think you'll find that using your own cheaper creamer is just as good if not better.

      I just finished making this recipe. I guess the idea of coconut milk put me off, I thought it would have that coconut aftertaste but it didn’t at all! I used a can of coconut milk, (about 1 1/2 cups), then 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk and 1 cup of heavy whipping cream. Added more pumpkin spice than I intended to but it was okay. About 2 or 3 tbsps. Offset with the last of my vanilla extract (2 tbsps) and liquid stevia from a squirt bottle type container. I can add more sweetness to individual cups if need be but for now it’s perfect as is and I no longer have to hunt stores for my unsweetened pumpkin spice creamer at $3-$4 a bottle! Thank you so much Lisa for sharing your recipe!

      I don't understand how there can be zero carbs when coconut milk, almond milk and heavy whipping cream all have carbs, and not enough fiber to counteract the carbs. Can someone please explain? I do use more than 2 tbsp creamer in my coffee. Thanks

        There's only about 6 grams carbs in the whole recipe which rounds out to 1 gram. The 1 gram of fiber subtracted is zero carbs for a 2 tablespoon serving. If you use double the amount, it would be 2 grams carbs or 1 or less gram net carbs.

        I start with an equivalent of 1 teaspoon sugar substitute and slowly add more if needed. Since I like to use a liquid sweetener, it's just a few drops for me.

      I love the idea of making my own creamers, but am allergic to coconut. Could I swap the coconut milk with almond milk? Would it be a 1:1 swap? Looking forward to trying this!

        Yes. It should be a one-to-one swap. If you find the mixture is too thin, you could whisk in a pinch of thickener like xanthan gum.

      I've been following you for some time now and enjoy all you offer.. I have a question about the creamer. For the Coconut and Almond milk are they from a carton? Or is the full fat coconut milk from a can? If it is from a can does it taste a lot like coconut or is it neutral until the added flavoring is added? Thank you for your time and recipes!!

        I use the kind in a carton because the fat doesn't separate out when chilled in the fridge. I also think the carton coconut milk has a more neutral taste.
