    Just like the classic version, my take is perfect for dipping veggies or drizzling over a gyro. Tzatziki sauce is a fantastic match for grilled meats like chicken, beef, pork, and lamb, adding that cool and tangy kick!

    And the best part? It's super quick to whip up - you'll have it ready to go in under 10 minutes!

    Here's everything that goes into this quick homemade tzatziki sauce:

    • Full-fat sour cream - you can also use plain Greek yogurt.
    • Cucumbers
    • Garlic powder
    • Fresh dill
    • Lemons
    • Salt and pepper

    • Use a food processor or blender to make the sauce extra smooth and creamy.
    • Squeeze excess water out of the cucumbers before adding them to the sauce; this will prevent it from becoming too watery.
    • Add in a splash of olive oil for added flavor and creaminess.

    How to prepare the cucumber

    Did you know that cucumbers are 95% water? That’s why it’s so refreshing to eat them raw!

    But you don’t want all that liquid going into a keto tzatziki sauce because it will become too runny. The key to this recipe is to remove as much of the moisture from the grated cucumber as possible.

    To do this, I recommend taking a handful of grated cucumber at a time and squeezing it between your palms over the sink. Set it on a paper towel until you’re ready to use.

    Alternatively, you could add the grated cucumber to a fine mesh sieve and press it with paper towels to squeeze out the liquid.

    Finally, you could salt the cucumbers to draw out the water. Add the grated cucumber to a sieve over a bowl, toss with salt, then allow it to sit for about 15 minutes.

    Once the time is up, press with paper towels or the back of a spatula to release even more water.

    Note: If you use the salting method, you may want to reduce the amount of salt you add to the recipe.

    The creamy low-carb sauce comes together in just a few simple steps:

    1. Without removing the skin, grate the cucumber using the small holes on your box grater.
    2. Squeeze as much moisture out of the grated cucumber as possible. You can use your hands or simply wrap the shredded cucumber in a paper towel.
    3. Mix the sour cream, grated cucumber, fresh dill, garlic powder, and fresh lemon juice together in a small bowl. Stir well to combine ingredients.
    4. Chill for at least 2 hours, but if you are in a rush, you can use it immediately.

    Enjoy immediately or cover and store in the refrigerator. The sauce will be even better after it’s had time to chill

    How to enjoy tzatziki with sour cream

    Now that you have your tzatziki sauce ready, how can you enjoy it with sour cream? Here are a few ideas:

    • Use as a dip for veggies like carrots, celery, bell peppers, and cucumbers.
    • Top off some grilled meats like chicken, beef, pork, and lamb.
    • Drizzle over salads or grain bowls.
    • Use as a sauce for low-carb wraps or sandwiches.

    My favorite meal lately is a serving of these turkey zucchini meatballs and dipping them into the tzatziki sauce.

    I also love to make some keto-friendly gyros! Just grill up your protein of choice, add it to a coconut flour tortillas, then top it off with some feta and tzatziki!

      Delicious recipe! I always forget to buy plain yogurt, it is such a uni-tasker, seems I only need it for tzatziki sauce. I always have sour cream on hand though, so this recipe lets me satisfy that Greek chicken craving whenever.       The recipe was good but I would like to try it with Greek Yogurt (i assume 1 cup) instead just to taste the difference. Also, I used " 100% natutal strenght" from concentrate with added ingredients lemon juice since I had no real lemon juice on hand and used dried dill weed, but Alexa told me that you use 2 teaspoons of dried dill weed instead of 2 tablespoons of fresh dill as the cgeneral substitute, not 1/2 teaspoon as a previous reply stated.

      Such a great and easy recipe!
      I always have sour cream on hand and rarely Greek yogurt so this recipe was exactly what I was looking for - and the flavour and texture are both wonderful.

      Sorry honey but this is no way tzatziki and should not be referred to as such! Tzatziki is traditionally made with yoghurt NOT sour cream. This is a sour cream dip with dill and cucumber! As a Greek I am insulted that you would even consider giving it that title!

        The reason is because sour cream has less carbs than yogurt. But Greek yogurt can certainly be used for a traditional style.

          Oh honey, you completely missed my point. Regardless of the carbs the fact of the matter is that authentic tzatziki is made with GREEK YOGHURT and not with sour cream. This recipe should be called something more appropriate.
